Operations Specialist

The Operations Specialist is responsible for ensuring operations run smoothly at American Arborists. This Jack or Jane of all trades is an individual who loves to learn new things and master them. Reporting directly to the company’s Regional Manager, the Operations Specialist will review projects, schedule workflows for crews and clients, issue client invoices, and ensure those invoices are paid on time. The role is also responsible for managing the internal tools and workflows our company uses to meet the needs of our clients. The ideal candidate is positive, ambitious, and looking to grow with our company.

  • Requirements/Qualifications:
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
    • Proficient in Google Apps, including experience working with Gmail and Google Calendar
    • Dependable access to a computer and phone
    • Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills
    • Excellent phone skills, computer skills, and customer service skills
    • Remarkable attention to detail and a keen focus on accuracy
    • Must be able to multitask and prioritize duties and projects to meet deadlines, and work within a team effectively
    • Trustworthy, with an outstanding reputation of integrity and confidentiality
    • Background check required
    • Preferred experience (but not required) in Slack, WordPress, Excel, Zoho Invoice, and Facebook
    • Bi-lingual a plus

Experienced Arborist/Climber

Our arborists/climbers are responsible for daily arboriculture operations, including climbing, operating equipment, job site cleanup, chipper, and chainsaw operation. We encourage all of our arborists to participate in career progression, such as training program participation to advance skills and become proficient in every aspect of the industry. Our team also requires each of our arborists to obtain the following credentials: ISA-certified arborist, pesticide applicator, First Aid, and CPR. In addition to daily operations, we utilize various technologies, including apps and integrated scheduling programs for smoother workflows.

  • Requirements/Qualifications:
    • Experience tree climbing with the use of a harness and climbing line
    • Experience with spur-less climbing
    • Pruning and removing of trees on residential and commercial properties (according to industry standards)
    • Knot tying knowledge and ability to safely apply safe and efficient rigging techniques
    • Safe chainsaw operation and maintenance
    • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with a friendly and helpful attitude
    • Physically capable of conducting arboriculture operations
    • Knowledge and proper identification of trees and shrubs common to the Reno/Sparks area
    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Google Calendar, and the ability to learn new software
    • Ability to work well within a team
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Self-motivated and driven
    • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
    • Able to pass a background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screening
    • Preferred Qualifications: ISA or other Arborist Certification, Arboriculture/Tree service experience, 4-year forestry/ horticulture degree or a 2-year technical degree with 2 years of experience within the field, Nevada Pesticide Applicator's License

Arborist Apprentice

An arborist apprentice will be crucial to the daily operations of our team. Responsibilities include arboriculture operations, such as climbing, operating equipment, job site cleanup, and chipper and chainsaw operation. Each of our apprentices will participate in career progression, including training program participation to advance skills and become proficient in every aspect of the industry. We require our arborists to obtain the following credentials: ISA-certified arborist, pesticide applicator, First Aid, and CPR. In addition to the physical requirements and knowledge of local foliage, we ask our team members to use multiple apps and technologies on a daily basis.

  • Requirements/Qualifications:
    • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with strong organizational skills
    • Physically capable of conducting arboriculture operations
    • Knowledge and proper identification of trees & shrubs common to the Reno/Sparks area
    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Google Calendar, and the ability to learn new software
    • Ability to work well within a team
    • Self-motivated and driven
